Amy Pond, or "Amy Pond" is a character in Doctor Who. Amy is the daughter of the Doctor's companion, Martha Jones. Pond was named after her mother, but also after her grandmothers. She gets her name from the pond she was found in as a baby.
Pond's nickname, "Pond," derives from her habit of throwing herself into puddles when she gets excited. Her nickname, "poncho boys," comes from the fact that she wears men's ponchos to bed (a reference to her time wearing a poncho at boarding school). She got the nickname because she snored loudly while sleeping.
